All’inizio degli anni 2000 sia il tema Grid Computing - https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grid_computing  - (un precursore di Cloud Computing) che quello dei sistemi multi-agente erano di grande attualità. Lo sono tuttora, con qualche variazione.

In questo periodo abbiamo sviluppato modelli, linguaggi, tecnologie e sistemi di supporto a comunità di Agenti umani ed artificiali in comunicazione, a scopo informativo, o di apprendimento. Il momento di grande sviluppo è stato quando, con il progetto europeo ELEGI (European Learning Grid Infrastructure, 23 partners, 4 anni, 10M€) abbiamo costruito sia diversi modelli formali (ad esempio : l’integrazione fra Grid Computing e sistemi multi-agente grazie al modello STROBE : STReams OBjects Environments, concepito nel 1994) sia una applicazione molto innovativa, chiamata AGORA (Agent, Group, Organisation, Ressource, Activity) che ha anticipato sistemi come ZOOM con caratteristiche – osiamo dire - ancora più avanzate di quelle presenti oggi in simili sistemi di videoconferenza.
